Synthesis of enantiomerically pure β,β-diphenylalanine (Dip) and fluorenylglycine (Flg)

A new strategy for the preparation of both enantiomers of two phenylalanine analogues, β,β-diphenylalanine and fluorenylglycine, has been developed. The combination of a high yielding racemic synthesis and a very efficient resolution procedure has provided significant amounts of each amino acid in enantiomerically pure form and suitably protected for use in peptide synthesis. This methodology can be easily applied to the preparation of larger quantities of enantiopure compounds.     

Structures of four new alkaloids from Stemona sessilifolia

Four new alkaloids, sessilifoliamides E, F, G, and H were isolated from the roots of Stemona sessilifolia (Miq.) Miq., together with a known alkaloid, tuberostemonone. The structures of new alkaloids were elucidated by interpretation of the spectral data and X-ray crystallography.     

Exiguolide, a new macrolide from the marine sponge Geodia exigua

A new 20-membered macrolide designated exiguolide has been isolated from the marine sponge Geodia exigua, and its structure determined by interpretation of spectroscopic data. Exiguolide specifically inhibited fertilization of sea urchin (Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus) gametes but not embryogenesis of the fertilized egg.

Polymer supported trans-1-phenylsulfonylamino-2-isoborneolsulfonylaminocyclohexane ligand for the titanium catalyzed organozinc addition to ketones

The catalytic enantioselective addition of different organozinc reagents, such as diethylzinc, or in situ generated phenylzinc derivatives to simple ketones was accomplished using titanium tetraisopropoxide and supported chiral ligands derived from trans-1-phenylsulfonylamino-2-isoborneolsulfonylamidocyclohexane, to give the corresponding tertiary alcohols with enantioselectivities up to >99%. A simple and efficient procedure for the synthesis of the disulfonamide monomeric ligand and the corresponding polymerization is described.     

Maximum entropy approach to the collisional Vlasov equation: Exact solutions

We show that the maximum entropy approach proposed by El-Wakil, Elhanbaly, and Abdou (from now on EEA) in [S.A. El-Wakil, A. Elhanbaly, M.A. Abdou, Physica A 323 (2003) 213] for solving approximately the collisional Vlasov equation actually can provide exact solutions if properly implemented. We consider here two alternative procedures for obtaining exact maximum entropy solutions of the aforementioned equation. On the one hand, after identifying an appropriate set of relevant mean values (moments), we show that there are exact maximum entropy solutions associated with that set of moments. These solutions can be studied focusing either on the equations of motion of the moments themselves, or on the equations of motion of the corresponding Lagrange multipliers. On the other hand, it is possible to find exact solutions of the reduced equation considered by EEA, if one takes explicitly into account the zeroth-order moment of the solutions.     

Synthesis of novel chiral 6,6′-bis(oxazolyl)-1,1′-biphenyls and their application as ligands in copper(I)-catalyzed asymmetric cyclopropanation

The synthesis of a number of novel chiral bis(oxazolyl) ligands with a biphenyl backbone from ellagic acid 1 and their application in the copper(I)-catalyzed asymmetric cyclopropanation was described.     

DNA cleavage induced by thermal electron transfer from a dimeric NADH analogue to acridinium ions in the presence of oxygen

Acridinium ions, which can intercalate to DNA, act as thermal DNA cleavers in the presence of a dimeric NADH analogue and O2 in an aqueous solution via thermal electron transfer from a dimeric NADH analogue to acridinium ions, followed by the electron-transfer reduction of O2 to O2*- by the resulting NAD radicals.     

Analysis of 17β-Estadiol from Sewage in Coastal Marine by Surface Plasmon Resonance Technique

In this study, surface plasmon resonance （SPR） for monitoring 17β-eatradiol （E2） was developed. The small molecule E2 was immobilized on a CM5 sensor chip for an indirect competitive immunoassay to detect E2. The SPR response bahed on the antigen-antibody reaction was measured by injecting the sample solution into the flow system. The limitation of detection was 0.445 μg/L. The developed SPE-SPR system was applied to analyze the seawater samples. Recovery of E2 was 91.6%-93. 1%. Relative standard deviations（RSD） for the E2 assay were between 10.9%-15.1% （n = 3）. The range of determination of E2 samples from the sewage in the coastal marine environ-ment was between ND（lower than detection limit） and ca. 11.78 ng/L.
